GINA LINETTI MEME!!! (I somehow love you and your publication even more now because having a Brooklyn 99 meme in your post is proof of fabulous taste)

But all of that aside, I LOVE this idea! It's a little rebellion against AI and I am ALL FOR IT. Not to mention that getting a glimpse into your writing process is like discovering a treasure chest all in itself. Can't wait!!

The thing that gives me hope about AI is that it will eventually destroy itself. It’s not going away but for AI to work it will require restraint in order to reach equilibrium. Otherwise it’ll just cannibalistically feed on itself until the internet is filled with gobbledygook. The good news is it has revealed the value of curation which will effectively bring back some form of magazine culture again. We’ve all left print media behind because gatekeepers and environmental waste but we’re finding out that the curation was the real value added. Substack is the first step on that process.

I think people lean on ai because their own voices are not being heard. They have lost confidence in their ability to attract readers and, in some cases, create original content. It is sad but the real problem is, people spend more time worrying about pointless notes than people’s posts. The notes should be encouragement to visit and subscribe to accounts, and if the notes are written by ai, I say “who cares?” As long as the writing, the content in the posts is original.

I absolutely understand that. In fact, I very much relate to it—the insecurity. That is part of the point of this idea! We are our own worst critics, constantly comparing out drafts to someone else's published, finished product. Now we can compare them to *my* mess, and all feel a little better. ✨

Half-joke aside, unfortunately a LOT of people are using AI for their entire account—the post, the comments, and the Notes. I won't shame anyone or call them out (re: my opinion on awareness culture) but I also will not engage.

I read this quote from @hieronymushawkesIf (I can't tag because I am, apparently, tech illiterate): If the 'author' didn't bother to write it, I'm not going to bother to read it.

Ugh thanks for spreading the message. Depressing times indeed!

Of course! Annoying, frustrating times ahead, yes—though we’ll avoid the word depressing…for now. I think there will be growing pains but, as with everything else, people will get bored and need variety, something new. We’ll just have to support each other a little extra until then. 🖤

I think so too. Keep vigilant about people using it, and support the people who aren't, I say!
