Nocturnal News Update 6-1 | June Writing Prompt
Plus some super quick, very messy updates for you.
Welcome back, Honorary Void Demons.
I know, it’s been a minute since I did one of these. But rest assured, the Void’s been anything but quiet—and I have plenty to report.

Olivia Update
Chapter 6 is out now! You can read that [HERE]. For VIPs, your live Google Doc for chapter 7 has been added to the VIP folder—consider it your exclusive backstage pass to the looney bin (my brain).
VIP Night Shift gets to watch me write chapters in real time. If you’re thinking, “that sounds like a disaster,” you’re only half right—we’ve survived one panic attack and a single identity collapse so far. Not bad odds.

Why Everyone (including you) Should Read Olivia
“Awareness isn’t protection anymore. It’s curriculum.”
Second on the Agenda—June Writing Contest
The June Writing Challenge will close for submissions at midnight (12am) EST, on June 15th. To enter, publish your story and tag the Narrator in a comment, a post, a restack, or through psychic projection1.
As always, this month’s theme, setting, and genre were chosen by popular vote and mild emotional manipulation.
Setting: Abandoned Mall and Rural Gas Station actually tied…you know what that means, don’t you…?
Absolutely nothing—other than the fact that both of those settings are on the table. Use one, both, doesn’t matter!
Theme: REVENGE.
Genre: Urban Horror
And, For Fun: You all picked number 3. You don’t get to know which fate you’ve chosen until I release the final copy of the cooperative story. Have fun spiraling over that.
So, you know the deal.

Epoch of Erasure Update
Currently under revisions. I’m going back through and polishing End of the World Influencer for paid subscribers free e-book before I will get around to finishing up Epoch of Erasure.
Anticipate that it will pick back up in August.
If you haven’t already read End of the World Influencer, you can start with chapter 1 below!
End of the World Influencer: A Satirical, Dark Sci-Fi Series Debut
Welcome to Part 1 of End of the World Influencer, a new serialized apocalypse story from Nocturnal Narrator.
That concludes today’s broadcast.
Keep an eye on your inbox, and an ear to your walls.
Until the next story,
—The Narrator
Psychic projection must be formatted in APA style.
Where has Substack been all my life?! Y’all come up with the best prompts.
Okay. Let me see if I got this right. A 2500 words or less urban horror about revenge at a rural gas station or abandoned mall, by the end of the 14th?
Wow, Nikki, you've got it together, girl! I would love to shadow you for about a week or two or ten. I'm giving away a long-ass free urban fantasy serial, getting ready to start a shorter paid one, and am over here shaking in my Hey Dudes. Seriously. Great post! I bow at the throne of its (your) greatness. And must definitely pay closer attention, horror or no.
